I had previously installed a modified RAM-B-236 ball on the left handguard to mount my GPS and found that the set-up worked perfectly, so another modified RAM-B-236 ball was installed on the right handguard to mount a camera.

A 1/4-20 brass stud was made by cutting a screw and finish filing the end.

A lightweight Casio EX-Z110 digital camera mounted in position. An Olympus C-5060 WZ is also used in its place.

This set-up places the camera behind the OEM windscreen and out of the direct blast of bugs (as well as rain provided the camera is waterproof) while riding.

This set-up is handy in that the camera can quickly be taken off its mount and placed back in a snap without having to open up a tank bag or having to search through pockets in your riding gear.
For placement out from behind the OEM windscreen for video purposes, the following items were added to the standard set-up in the previous photo:

RAM-B-230 double ball
RAP-B-201 3" arm

Whatever camera is mounted, it must be kept as light as possible to keep shake to a minimum.
For more detail, select "Original" from the Photo Sizes window by placing the cursor over the top right of the image.

The Quick Release items are pictured at the top right; part numbers R780.99 and 785PL.

The Manfrotto 715SHB is identical to the 714SHB that I own except for the addition of the Quick Release mechanism. Both these tripods are extremely compact at 35.0 cm collapsed and 121.2 cm fully extended; approximately 1.5 cm longer with the Quick Release mechanism of the 715SHB.
