Bill's Dual Distributor
The shafts are named correctly in the photos as per Porsche. In other words, the primary shaft is not the driven shaft. All forums have this backwards although it makes more sense to call the driven shaft the primary shaft.

Dual Distributor With Drive Gear Removed
The drive gear is removed by carefully drilling out the solid rivet pin. The pin is soft and drills easily.
The trick is to line up the dual distributor by mounting the lower shaft of the casting in a set of soft jaws in a vise and also wedging the drive gear so that it does not turn while also lining up the rivet on two axis.
The pin for the drive gear cannot be punched out. Setting the pin causes it to expand in the hole making that impossible.
It is best to unload the side force placed on the pin by the Belleville washer by using an Irwin clamp. This becomes apparent when the pin is nearly drilled to its outside diameter.
